EHEM

Phuu... Phuu... (That’s me blowing off the dust that accumulated in this blog. hehe.) It’s been more than two months since I’ve posted anything. It’s the gelid weather. The cold, cold climate just switches off something in my inner circuits, making we want to retreat. It’s what I did. I hibernated. It may have been done in excess, though; the minimum one post per month wasn’t met. Duh!:-0

Nice to take a breather every now and then. Tried three days without absolutely nothing, just the sounds of nature and it wasn't bad.
If I was a blogger, I would post a picture of me "Snoring, err, sleeping" like Ms Fongakhan, if I won't post for a while, hehe....
You guys should all do that! Cheers to you and give us your insight about that Danonoy gambling den.

hi trublue,
yup, we all need to take some time off.

that's a good idea- posting a picture a la layad snoring. hehehe.

if what a 'danonoy regular' that i talked to is to be believed, gambling in danonoy is dwindling. it may be the result of the pnp's anti-gambling drive. i hope they can keep it up.

cheers!

"gambling in Danonoy is dwindling".
These regulars must have figured out that they lose more than they can win. Besides, a small tourist town like Sagada cannot afford to be at the center of negative publicity. Here's a scenario I just cooked up: Imagine a good family of six goes there for a nice getaway. The father losses all their money in Danonoy gambling den, now what? My fiction ends there, every possible horror things can happen and it's not going to be fun. For sure your dedicated readers can come up with their own version of what can happen next this fiction.
Cheers to all. Btw, I'am assuming the SMS clergy are involved.

Ay that's a good development if it is dwindling :-) Maybe they are lying low for now kaya?

hi trublue,
i'm not sure about gamblers being able to figure out that they lose more than they win.:-) i have observed closely some gamblers and i can say that they are bad mathematicians. they win and they'll want to win some more. if they lose, they'll find ways to try to recover. they'll borrow money, and i can assure you that they are very resourceful at this too. 'keg naasukalan nan dila da' as someone aptly described their glib tongues when they try to hoodwink people of their money. what i find funny is how some of them are actually good payers. they'll pay when they win. it seems that these people consider non-paying of debts, when they're capable of doing so, jinx. hehe. anyway, they'll eventually lose and the cycle goes on.

gambling in danonoy, or let's just say sagada, has been going on for years. it's some kind of a 'saturday night fever' for those who indulge in it. the fever starts from saturday morning til sunday night though.:-)

one friend once said that it is in those gambling dens where politicians could develop part of their base of suporters, or where people could simply make friends with the folks from the other barangays; people from all over would troop to town on saturdays and it is there where some of the men would usually meet. if only those 'meetings' encouraged men to engage in more productive pursuits... the scenario you presented actually happened many times. bad.

i'm not sure about the involvement of the sms clergy. of course they talk. they denounce the evils which vices bring. but the more concrete actions came from the pnp. the latest order from the cops, i guess, is the prohibition of the selling of playing cards. like i said earlier, i hope they can keep it up.

cheers and good health!
